The Jalandhar police have arrested a daughter of a Kartarpur village sarpanch with 18 gm heroin.
Paramjit Kaur, alias Pammo, daughter of Naharpur village sarpanch Ranjit Kaur, was arrested on Tuesday at a police check-post.
Earlier, a purported video of her had surfaced on social media, in which she was allegedly seen carrying a polybag containing a white substance in one hand and holding an electronic weighing machine in the other.
A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act and Sections 111(2) and 111 (3) of the BNS has been registered against her at the Kartarpur police station.
The Kartarpur police said the woman had three cases registered against her in the past, including one under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Kartarpur DSP Vijay Kanwarpal said a police party heading from Dayalpur village to Naharpur on Tuesday had spotted the woman near Naharpur.
She allegedly threw away a polybag on seeing the police and tried to hide herself.
The bag contained 3 gm of heroin, the police said, adding that 15 gm of heroin more was recovered on further investigation.
