The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Fatehgarh Sahib DDPO Kulwinder Singh Randhawa and a private individual (Hanspal) for allegedly committing embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs 40,85,175 pertaining to Amloh block and gram panchayats.

A Vigilance spokesman said an FIR was registered under Sections 409 and 120-B of IPC and Sections 13(1) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Patiala range VB police station against five persons, including Kulwinder Singh Randhawa, the then Amloh BDPO, for misappropriation of government funds.

Randhawa illegally released the funds in the name of some private firms and a private person. The DDPO and Hanspal have been arrested. They will be produced in a court tomorrow.
