The Kirti Kisan Forum, an organisation of former IAS, IPS, Army officers, prominent academicians and social activists, has urged the state government to declare November 19 as “Farmers Fateh Divas”.

A resolution to this effect was passed at a meeting of the forum today. On November 19 three years ago, PM Narendra Modi had given in to the year-long democratic and peaceful agitation by farmers at the Singhu and Tikri borders and repealed the three farm laws, the forum claimed.

Passing three resolutions, the forum said this historic farmers’ movement created a democratic, peaceful and secular culture around the world and laid new paths for democratic and peaceful movements across the globe.

The sacrifice of 700 farmers during the stir would give strength to future struggles by farmers across the country. A “Fateh Smarak” (memorial) in memory of those farmers should be constructed at the Sambhu border.
