Sangrur, December 10
After The Tribune highlighted the plight of a widow, Labh Kaur, in news item “72-year-old struggles for dependent pension for her granddaughter”, Sangrur District Social Security Officer (DSSO) today addressed the issue and directed the authorities concerned to start the pension. For four months, she had been visiting various offices repeatedly. Also, some days back, the DSSO office had rejected her pension without giving any reason.
After Guardian of Governance (GOG) initiated an inquiry, it has come to light that Dirba Sewa Kendra employees did not send all scanned documents to the office of DSSO, causing delay in the start of pension. The GOG has demanded that the Sewa Kendra employees give Kiran (12) the pension of the last three months from their salaries to compensate her for the delay in start of pension.

Dirba in-charge of GOG, Gulab Singh, took Kaur with him to DSSO office, Sangrur.
“I had submitted all documents in Dirba Sewa Kendra. I do not want any action against anyone, but I request the authorities to be careful,” said Kaur.
