Gidderbaha/Muktsar, August 18

The AAP government has started splurging funds in the Gidderbaha Assembly segment ahead of the upcoming bypoll there.

Party’s Gidderbaha constituency in-charge Pritpal Sharma announced that the government had floated tenders for laying sewerage and water supply pipelines in the town at a cost of Rs 29 crore. The first instalment of around Rs 18.8 crore had been released for development works in villages, he added.

Pritpal said, “Laying sewerage will cost about Rs 16 crore, while the work of water supply pipelines will cost about Rs 13 crore. The residents had been complaining for a long time about the sewage overflow and contaminated water supply. Now, their problem will be solved.”

“Of the works sanctioned to be carried out in villages, the Rural Development Department has got Rs 4.5 crore, the BDPO has got Rs 7.5 crore, the Animal Husbandry Department has got Rs 28 lakh and the Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board has got Rs 4.7 crore. Several other works are already underway,” he added.
