The dismissed woman constable of the Punjab Police, Amandeep Kaur, who was arrested with heroin on April 2, was today granted bail by the District Court.

She had submitted a bail plea in the court on April 29. On Thursday, after hearing arguments from both sides, the court decided to grant bail to Amandeep Kaur.

The police had claimed to have arrested Amandeep Kaur with 17.71 gm of heroin. The case had gained significant public attention, with the DGP dismissing her from service, and the incident remaining in headlines for several days. Allegations were also made regarding her close connections with several police officials. Following these developments, apart from the Punjab Police, both the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Intelligence Bureau questioned her, but no disclosures from those interrogations have been made public so far.

Her lawyer stated that they had submitted a bail plea, which was heard on Thursday in the Special Court designated for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases. He argued her case before the court, claiming that no heroin was seized from the constable and that she had been falsely implicated in the matter.

He added that the Special Court of Judge Mahesh Kumar ordered her release on bail after furnishing a bond of Rs 50,000. He also mentioned that the police had not yet submitted the charge-sheet in the court.

The Special Court ordered the dismissed woman constable not to leave the country without permission. Additionally, she must not tamper with evidence or attempt to threaten or provoke any person related to the case. The court also directed that the dismissed constable must appear in court at every hearing, and if she failed to do so, her bail would be cancelled.
