Doctors at the local Civil Hospital today went on a strike following an alleged attack on their senior colleague.

Around 10 am today, one Baljeet Singh of Mallanwala allegedly attacked Dr David Augustin, a paediatrician. The accused also allegedly misbehaved with a female doctor of the same ward.

Dr Jatinder Kochar, president, Punjab Civil Medical Services, said, “The OPD services at the Civil Hospital will remain non-functional till the time the accused are booked by the police.”

When contacted, SHO Mohit Dhawan said, “The police have received a written complaint from doctors. Soon, an FIR will be registered against accused.”
