Sidhu Moosewala’s family has appealed to all political parties as well as individuals to not use the late singer’s name for any political or personal motives. This appeal can be termed as a huge setback for the Congress party, which intended to cash in on the public sympathy over the recent killing of the famous singer during the upcoming Sangur bypolls.

Sidhu Moosewala had contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly election on a Congress ticket from Mansa constituency and had lost his debut poll to AAP’s Dr Vijay Singla.

Meanwhile, the ruling AAP party has also slammed the Congress for using pictures of singer Moosewala in election song.

Lamenting over politicising the unfortunate death of popular singer Sidhu Moosewala by opposition, AAP candidate for Sangrur bypoll, Gurmail Singh, slammed Congress for using slain singer’s photos in party’s election song in favour of its candidate Dalvir Singh Goldy.

“A mother has lost his son but it is appalling that Congress is trying to get mileage from his death in the elections. Congress should resist to use such tactics and hurt sentiments of family and fans,” Gurmail Singh said during his campaigning.
