Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, Charanjit Singh Channi on parliamentary committees

Rajya Sabha MP Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal has been appointed to the Committee on Finance under the Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committees (DRSCs). Previously, he was a member of the External Affairs Committee.

Jalandhar Lok Sabha MP Charanjit S Channi has also been appointed as the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Food Processing, Fisheries, Dairy and Cooperations.

The DRSCs serve as mini parliaments, comprising representatives from various political parties, and play a critical role in overseeing the functioning of different ministries. The Committee on Finance provides legislative oversight on financial policies, taxation, banking and insurance.

Other members in the Finance Committee include former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, and Manish Tewari, former Minister of Information and Broadcasting. Bhartruhari Mahtab will serve as the Committee Chairman.
