The OPD services at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, will be inaugurated by Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, on Monday.

The AIIMS, Bathinda, was approved under the phase V of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in July, 2016. The project would be completed at a cost of Rs 925 crore by June 2020.

The OPD services in orthopaedic; general surgery, including surgical oncology and urologist paediatric surgery consultation; general medicine; ENT; ophthalmology; psychiatry; dermatology; obstetrics and gynecology; dental; radiology (X-ray, ultrasound and colour doppler); basic biochemistry; basic hematology tests, will be started from Monday.

Currently, there will be no emergency services or indoor facility, but these will be started in November 2020.
