The process to ensure justice for families who lost their children to the drug menace had begun, said Punjab Minister and state AAP chief Aman Arora on Thursday responding to queries over the arrest of SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia in corruption case.

The Vigilance FIR claimed significant financial irregularities involving Majithia.

It claimed Rs 540 crore in unaccounted funds deposited in his companies.

Of this, Rs 161 crore was allegedly deposited in accounts without proper documentation while Rs 141 crore was funneled through fake shell companies.

The complaint further said illicit funds were used to amass properties worth hundreds of crores of rupee.

“Was there a money-printing machine in Majithia’s residence? From where did this wealth come from?” Arora questioned.

The Punjab minister asked how Majithia’s businesses “grew exponentially” within a short span. “This is a reflection of the drug money being laundered into the economy,” he alleged.

The Punjab minister also slammed Opposition parties in the state for their “support” to the Shiromani Akali Dal leader, accusing them of complicity in Punjab’s drug crisis.
