The Sriganganagar police have arrested eight more criminals belonging to an international gang involved in threats for extortion and murderous assaults.

With this, 18 persons have so far been arrested for the murderous attack on Shubham Gupta, son-in-law of stock broker LD Mittal and a financier Rakesh “Lala” at Raisinghnagar. The gang reportedly has links with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi of Abohar origin. Lawrence, lodged in Ajmer’s high security jail, was reportedly operating through notorious criminal Kala Rana, who has been hiding in Thailand for a long time, and Kali Jathedi, who is absconding.

Superintendent of Police Rajan Dushyant said at Sriganganagar that interrogation of Kartik Jakhar of Chak 2-KLM village, who was arrested in connection with firing by two bikers on Rakesh “Lala” on November 8, led to the arrest of Bablu Kadela (26), Mandeep Singh “Deepa” (30), Nazam Singh (29) and Akashdeep Brar (22). Ashish Bishnoi (32), Rajdeep Brar (24), Abhay Singh Rathod (31) and Sonu (19) of Goregaon district in Pune were arrested in other raids.

The SP said that the most vicious among them was Ashish Bishnoi. It was through these people that he managed the attack on Shubham for not heeding to an extortion demand of Rs 1 crore allegedly sought from the stockbroker LD Mittal. Shubham, who was in the car, narrowly survived, after which an attack in the house of financier Rakesh was conducted. –OC
