Amir Hussain Lone, an Indian cricketer from Bijbehara village in Jammu and Kashmir, was honoured with a special sports award for his achievement in the sport. An armless cricketer and the captain of the Jammu and Kashmir para-cricket team, Lone lost his hand at the age of eight in 1997 in his family’s sawmill.

An unorthodox player:

Despite the setback, Amir Hussain Lone began playing cricket with his legs and quickly became known for his unique and innovative style of play when he was eight years old.

In 2013, Lone’s team played in Delhi against the Kerala outfit. He made headlines for his performance, as he was able to bat by putting his bat between his neck and chin and bowl with his legs.

In 2024, he played in the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) with the master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar. In that match, Sachin wired Amir’s jersey (No. 1) with Amir’s name, and Amir wore Sachin’s jersey (No. 10) with Sachin’s name on it.
