Errors, delays mar Class V maths exam

Anxiety gripped teachers and Class V students of government primary schools in the state during the maths exam on Monday, as glaring mistakes in the question papers, conducted by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), disrupted the process.

The question papers were riddled with errors, ranging from printing mistakes to inadequate space for answers, prompting teachers to make frantic calls to their seniors. In one instance, question number 22 incorrectly asked for the place value instead of the required face value. Additionally, two questions lacked sufficient space for students to write their answers in the question paper-cum answer booklets.

To address the issue, the education department circulated a message on a departmental WhatsApp group, instructing teachers not to upload the marks of the maths paper until further orders. However, no formal letter was issued to clarify the situation.

The Democratic Teachers Front has demanded an inquiry into the errors.
