Lal told the police that his wife Kavita Solanki held him hostage in a room for about 25 hours. The police brought him to the Civil Hospital and got him admitted.

Meanwhile, Kavita Solanki, who is the district president of the Pradesh Congress Women Wing, denied the allegations and said that it was her husband who had been harassing her. The police said that Lal’s complaint would be investigated.

Under treatment in the hospital, Lal said that his wife had gradually got all his properties transferred in her name using political influence. He alleged that for the last few days his wife started treating him badly and on the night of October 5 he was locked in a room of the house. After this, he contacted his relatives, friends and former officers of the powercom on phone. When his relatives and old colleagues reached the house, his wife did not allow them to enter the house, asserting that it was a domestic dispute and others had no right to interfere.

Lal alleged that he was kept hungry and thirsty during the ‘confinement’ due to which his condition started deteriorating. He said he called on police helpline 112 last night. After getting the call, police personnel reached his house late night and took him out of the room despite his wife’s resistance and got him admitted to the Civil Hospital.

He said that he had informed some senior Congress leaders about the harassment but she refused to listen to them. “I am a victim of domestic violence and expect justice from the administration,” he said.
