The village has for some time been known to be a hub of illicit liquor. Seven people were arrested in the case. Police sources said an FIR had been registered at PS Vairoke. Police claim that suspects had tried to destroy their stock.

The raid, jointly conducted by the excise department and police, came on the back of over 80 deaths from drinking hooch in Punjab.
