Ferozepur, May 6

The police have booked around 20 persons for allegedly attacking officials of the Excise and Taxation Department who had gone for a raid at Lakho ke Behram village in Mamdot block here.

Excise Inspector (Guruharsahai circle) Nirmal Singh said their team had conducted a raid on the residence of Sucha Singh, allegedly involved in bootlegging. During the raid, the team recovered some illicit liquor and distillery items.

Later, the accused along with brother Gurmel Singh and others attacked the team causing serious injuries to an official, Dharampal Singh, who was later admitted to the community health centre at Mamdot, said the inspector. A case has been registered against the suspects at the Lakho ke Behram police station. — OC
