Acting on a complaint of Gurmit Singh, a resident of Panchhat village in Phagwara, the police have registered a case under Section 420 and 406 of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professions Regulation Act against a fake travel agent.

The accused has been identified as Neeraj Gupta, a resident of Kathar village near Adampur on the charges of duping Rs 3,90,000 from the complainant on the pretext of sending his nephew Karamvir Singh to Spain via Portugal. The complainant alleged before the police that neither did the accused send his nephew to Spain nor return his money back. No arrests have been made so far. The police are investigating the matter.
