The Kotkapura police have registered a criminal case against BJP district president Gaurav Kakkar and another man for allegedly cheating some persons on the pretext of providing residential plots.

It was alleged that using fake documents and claiming to be the owners of 32 kanals of prime land in Kotkapura, Kakkar and Mukesh Garg collected money from people on the pretext of selling 77 residential plots in Radha Krishan Enclave in Kotkapura.

Complainant Surjit Singh alleged that they had not got the ownership of the plots transferred in their names. When they enquired, they found that the land belonged to Kirpa Shankar of Kotkapura. He said when they approached the BJP leader for their money, he threatened to implicate them in false cases.
