The main shooter, identified as Arshdeep Singh alias Vicky, a resident of Mari Kalan, Amritsar Rural, was arrested this evening after an encounter.
Acting on a tip‑off that Arshdeep Singh was in the Bajakhana area of Faridkot and planning a major crime, police set up a checkpoint (naka). When officers signalled his HF Deluxe motorcycle to stop, he attacked the police team. The police retaliated in self‑defence, and six rounds were fired.
Arshdeep Singh was injured in the crossfire and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. Police recovered one Uganda pistol and live cartridges from the scene.
The arrest followed the capture of his two associates a day earlier. The three apprehended operatives are Arshdeep Singh alias Vicky, Baljeet Singh alias Kaddu, and Sunny.
During the arrest of Baljeet Singh and Sunny near the government school stadium in Panjgrain village on November 14, police seized a .30‑bore pistol and live cartridges, said SSP Faridkot Pragya Jain.
She added that investigations revealed Arshdeep Singh alias Vicky was in direct contact with the foreign‑based gangster Prabh Dasuwal and received orders for target killings. He, along with his two associates, had recently carried out a firing incident at Chheharta in Amritsar on Dasuwal’s instructions, and he was also conducting reconnaissance for the gang.
All three accused have a criminal history. Arshdeep Singh alias Vicky has a snatching case registered against him, and his associate Baljeet Singh alias Kaddu has been booked for extortion, having demanded a Rs 15 lakh ransom in Moga district.
