Dejected by the whitefly attack on his cotton crop, Kulwinder Singh of Bhagi Bander village has reportedly destroyed his crop on two acres.

He said he had taken on lease 2 acres of land at a rate of Rs 60,000 per acre and planted cotton crop there by incurring an expenditure of Rs 9,000 per acre so far. However, whitefly attack forced him to destroy the crop.

Officials of the Agriculture Department, however, claimed that the situation was under control in the district. There might be some other reason behind destroying the crop, they said.
