Activists of the BKU (Sidhupur) burnt an effigy of CM Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal outside the district administrative complex (DC office) in Sangrur on Tuesday. The protest call was given by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political).

They were protesting against the arrest of farm leaders and villagers opposing the laying of a sewage line through Ghasokhana village in Bathinda.

Dirba block president Sukhchain Singh Shadihari, Bhawanigarh block president Karnail Singh Kakra and Sunam block general secretary Kewal Singh Jawandha said that the government wanted to crush the voice of the agitating leaders by putting them behind bars.

They said the government was “committing atrocities” on the agitating farmers and that would not be tolerated.
