The farmers, led by former MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra, protested the suspension of procurement of paddy by the commission agents at the office of the Sirhind Mandi Board. The commission agents suspended the procurement of paddy after Vijay Kalra, state president of commission agents, was reportedly ‘humiliated’ by the Makhu police. The agitated farmers started gathering in front of the mandi board office at the Sirhind grain market.
