Social Justice Minister Baljit Kaur today said farmers tilling the provincial government land for decades without ownership rights shall also be given compensation.

The standing crop on thousands of acres have suffered extensive damaged due to the flooding in Fazilka district.

She said the process has been initiated by the district administration to assess loss of crops, houses and cattle heads. She met several flood-hit farmers in Ram Singh Bhaini village and reiterated the resolve to provide compensation as early as possible.

The minister said Health Department officials had been cautioned against spreading of vector-borne diseases and they were taking necessary action in this regard.
