According to complainant Kamaljit Singh, a village resident, he noticed the torn pages near the shrine of Baba Muni Das while returning from the village gurdwara. He immediately informed the gurdwara committee president Harjit Singh and Sarpanch Jaspal Singh, following which villagers gathered at the spot. The police then arrived and began an investigation.

SP Manvinderbir Singh said that prompt action by the Jaito police led to the arrest of Jaswinder Singh and his son, Balkaran Singh, both residents of the same village. A preliminary investigation revealed that Jaswinder had prevented his wife from visiting the gurdwara and, amid a domestic dispute, tore the Gutka Sahib kept at home. He later instructed his son to hide the torn scripture near the shrine.

Due to wind, the pages got scattered. Fearing exposure, the duo allegedly burned the remaining cover of the scripture. Both have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
