Fazilka: The district administration has directed licence holders to deposit their firearms at police stations or with licensed weapon shops in the view of the 2022 Assembly elections in the state. Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Babita Kler has imposed a ban on carrying firearms, sharp-edged weapons and inflammable items in the district with immediate effect. The Deputy Commissioner said the Treasury Office would remain open round-the-clock to deposit unaccounted cash supposed to be used during the elections to woo the voters. oc

Chandigarh: Former CM Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday appointed five vice-presidents and 17 general secretaries to his newly launched political outfit Punjab Lok Congress. The five vice-presidents are Amrik Singh Aliwal, Prem Mittal, Farzana Alam, Harjinder Singh Thekedar and Sanjay Inder Singh Bunny Chahal. The general secretaries include Rajwinder Kaur Bhagike, RajinderSingh Raja, Pushpinder Singh Bhandari and Sarita Sharma. PTI
