His visit was cancelled by in view of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday.

In his absence, senior BJP leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi flagged of the train.

Before the train’s departure from the Cantonment Railway Station, a special ardas (prayer) was performed.

Prominent religious leaders of the region were honoured by Rana Sodhi.

Sodhi said a direct train from Ferozepur to Haridwar would begin from June 18. “The Moga Intercity Superfast Express from New Delhi has now been extended up to Ferozepur. The Ferozepur–Chandigarh train will be reintroduced with a special AC coach by June-end or in the first week of July,” he said.
