Former Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna has raised the issue that all posts of Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) are lying vacant at the government hospital in Fazilka with the Punjab State Human Rights Commission.

Khanna described the situation as a gross violation of human rights, holding the state government responsible for it. In a letter to the Human Rights commission, Khanna has demanded that the state government submit a report on the matter and ensure the immediate appointment of Emergency Medical Officers at Fazilka hospital to restore adequate healthcare services for the public.
