Abohar, February 28
A day after shopkeepers in Nai Abadi staged protest against the police over incidents of thefts, four more incidents of theft and snatching have been reported.
Asha Rani, a resident of Nai Abadi said two bikers snatched her purse that carried a mobile phone worth Rs 20,000 and medicines when she was returning from the Aam Aadmi Clinic located near JP Park of Nai Abadi. She shouted for help but the miscreants fled in meantime. The park is infamous for activities of drug peddlers and other anti-social elements.
In second incident, two bikers snatched an ear-ring from one Sunita Arora in street number 4 of the old city area last evening. She was returning home after buying vegetables from the nearby market. Under a state of shock, the victim woman cried for help but the miscreants managed to flee. City police were examining CCTV footage to gather information on both the incidents.
In another incident, an e-rickshaw parked inside a store owned by one Sunil Kumar in Indira Nagari was today found stolen. Unidentified miscreants allegedly broke open the locks of the gate and took away the vehicle.
In an incident of theft, unidentified persons targeted a wheat flour mill near Killianwali Road at about 2 am. Owner Ashok Kumar said that he reached there on being informed about some suspicious activity by a passerby. The miscreants took away cash and a wheat bag but could not carry five other bags that had been removed from the premises to near the main gate, he alleged.
