According to information, the canter and the tipper collided head-on. Both vehicles were badly smashed and the occupants were stuck inside the mangled vehicles. Locals reached the spot and started attempts to rescue the victims. They said all four died on the spot. They were taken out by cutting the vehicles with metal cutters. The bodies were handed over to the families after a post-mortem examination at the local civil hospital.

Sources said the accident occurred because the tipper driver reportedly dozed off while driving. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it collided with the canter.

Pardeep Singh, incharge, Mehtiana police station, said ASI Sukhram was rushed to the spot with a police team.
