Sangrur, March 8
Four members of a family, including two children, were killed and three others were seriously injured when the roof of their house caved in on Saturday night in Sangrur district due to rain.
The family was based in Indira colony in Sunam town of the district.
Deepak Kumar, his wife, Janvi, and their sons, Navi and Babli, were sleeping in a room at the time of the collapse. Kumar’s father, Balvir, his mother, Krishna, and his sister were sleeping in a hut constructed on top of their room.
A police official said that since the room was constructed many years back, the rain weakened the structure, leading to the collapse.
“Deepak, his wife and both sons died after the collapse while his mother, father and sister have suffered serious injuries and are admitted to Sunam hospital,” said Sunam DSP Sukhwinderpal Singh.
