The Moga police have claimed to have arrested Aman Kumar, alias Amna, an operative of the Bambiha gang and resident of Tiwana Kalan in Fazilka district.

Amna already faces cases of robbery and extortion. Last month, he, along with an accomplice, fired shots at the gate of panchayat member Balour Singh’s house at Dala village in Moga.

Acting on a tipoff about the movement of Amna, a team reached the area and spotted a suspect near Ramuwala Kalan village in Moga on Monday. On seeing the police, the suspect pulled out a .32 bore country-made pistol from his waistband and fired three shots.

The police fired two shots in self-defence. One bullet hit Amna in the right calf as he attempted to flee. He was overpowered and arrested. On checking the weapon, the police found that the magazine was empty, but there was one live round in the chamber.
