Gangster nabbed with two illegal weapons, cartridges

The police have nabbed a gangster and seized two illegal .32 bore weapons and cartridges from his possession.
Fatehgarh Sahib Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Ravjot Grewal said the accused had been identified as James, a resident of Alipur Sandal village.
The SSP added that they had set up a naka at Tarkhanmajra village T-point. Cops seized two .32 bore illegal weapons and 10 cartridges from James, said Grewal, adding that he had been facing several cases of extortion in Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana. She said other members of his gang had been identified and would be nabbed soon.
The SSP added that they have nabbed three members of an inter-state gang of smugglers and seized 5 kg opium from them.
Those arrested have been identified as Rajnesh, Satvir and Dharambir, all residents of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh.
SP (Investigations) Rakesh Yadav said they had come to know that Jharkhand-based drug smugglers were shipping contraband through couriers into Punjab.
The SSP said they had arrested two drug smugglers with 300 gm heroin.
The accused have been identified as Soma Singh and Amarjit Singh.
On the basis of their interrogation, we would track their forward and backward links, she said.
