Two gangsters lodged in Bathinda Central Jail have allegedly attacked the warder here. Assistant Jail Superintendent Gauravdeep Singh, in his complaint at the Cantonment police station on Tuesday, said gangsters — Rajveer Singh of Gurdaspur, and Gurdeep Singh of Ludhiana, — had attacked the jail warder and sought action against them.

The complaint also mentioned that while these gangsters not only beat up warder Gurmeet Singh, but also pushed around other officials and even tried to escape from the jail. The assailants also threatened the cops at the jail with dire consequences. These two accused have more than 15 criminal cases registered against them in different districts. The jail officials had recovered a mobile phone and five SIM cards from Rajveer recently.

A case has been registered under the Prisons Act.
