Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday directed to deploy a gazetted officer in every marooned village to supervise relief and rescue operations.

The CM said the step had been taken to ensure direct communication between the administration and the people of flood-affected villages.

He said this would ensure a prompt and appropriate solution.

Mann said 1,698 villages in 23 districts had been inundated due to floods, thereby affecting more than 3.80 lakh people.

The CM said officials had been directed to conduct “Special Girdawari” in a fair manner so that people get duly compensated for their loss.
