GMADA issues 62 show-cause notices for illegal constructions

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has issued 62 show-cause notices against illegal constructions in Mirjapur, Jyanti Majri, Bharonjian, Karoran and Seonk villages.

The issue of extensive construction activity on the periphery of Chandigarh had been taken up by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

In an affidavit filed with the NGT Additional Chief Administrator, GMADA, Rakesh Popli said action was being taken against those indulging in illegal construction for violating the Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act, the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act and Punjab New Capital Periphery Act.

GMADA had earlier carried out demolition drives in Karoran, Perch, Soenk, Mullanopur, Garibadss, Padol and Nada villages
