In a joint action, officials of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Child Helpline organisation nabbed a “sadhu” on Monday afternoon for allegedly molesting a five-year-old daughter of a beggar inside the railway complex at Sriganganagar.

The accused was identified as Sukhdev Singh (55) of Bhagsar village. His family serves at a brick-kiln, but he had reportedly been living at the complex for the past few months.

Some persons at the taxi stand reported to the CWC and helpline that the accused had been molesting the child when her mother moved out for begging.

Teams led by CWC chairman Luxmikant Saini, advocate and helpline coordinator Tirlok Verma laid a trap. A high-power CCTV camera that was installed at the police control room was diverted to focus at the crime spot. As the accused tried to molest the girl, he was caught on the camera. With the help of cops, the officials nabbed him.
