In his plea, he stated that due to excessive politicisation in the Sikh body, he was removed as Akal Takht Jathedar on March 7. Now, he was again being targeted and feared that he may receive the same fate.

Notably, he took this decision a day before the first hearing of the case scheduled on July 1. He filed the plea on June 6.

Along with Giani Raghbir Singh, Giani Sultan Singh was also removed as Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar on March 7. Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj was appointed Akal Takht’s officiating Jathedar.
