Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria released a book written by Dr Seema Somani of Gopichand Arya Mahila College, Abohar, at Raj Bhawan yesterday.

On return to Abohar, Dr Somani said today that her book 'The Discourse of Transgression' is based on the new form, working and thoughts of women. During the review of this book, Meenu Gupta, head of the department of English at Panjab University, appreciated the efforts made by Somani for the uplift of women.

Earlier, Somani’s another book ‘Evolution of an Independent Woman’ had been released by former MP Sunil Jakhar and late Pondicherry Governor Virendra Kataria at a function in the college.

Maheshwari Samaj officials Anand Periwal and Rakesh Rathi said that Somani has brought glory to the society as well as Abohar through her writings.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
