Punjab Govt humiliating LoP for sake of publicity: Sunil Jakhar
BJP state president Sunil Jakhar today criticised the Punjab Government for summoning Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa to a police station over his “50 bombs have reached Punjab” claim.
Accusing the state government of humiliating Bajwa, he urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, leading “publicity-driven government”, to refrain from resorting to petty politics.
Jakhar, in a post on ‘X’, said, “While the country stands at the brink of war, the government is busy humiliating the Leader of Opposition by calling him to a police station.”
He called Bajwa’s statement about bombs “irresponsible as well as laughable” but labelled the government’s response as even more “ridiculous”. Jakhar said such actions disrespect the dignity of the LoP office, mock democratic traditions and reflect the government’s hunger for cheap publicity.
Meanwhile, Bajwa’s lawyers reportedly appeared before the cops at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Mohali today. The police officers as well as Bajwa’s lawyers remained tightlipped over the proceedings.
