In a major boost to the state’s healthcare, the state government has announced a massive recruitment drive to fill 1,000 vacancies of medical officers (MBBS doctors).

The recruitment drive is said to be the largest in decades.

It is aimed at addressing the long-pending shortage of doctors in government hospitals and health centres across the state.

Process begins on April 25

The interested candidates can apply online through the official website of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, from April 25 to May 15. The details regarding eligibility, selection criteria and application procedure are expected to be available on the BFUHS website.

A senior BFUHS officials said, “I have never heard about recruitment of 1,000 medical officers in the past. I remember applications were invited for the recruitment of 400 doctors in the past.”

Meanwhile, the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) has welcomed the state government’s decision to recruit doctors.
