Three bike-borne persons allegedly hurled a hand grenade at the house of a SAD leader and ex-chairman of Amritsar Zila Parishad in Jaintipur village here today. No one was hurt as the grenade fell in the compound of the house.

Late Rajinder Kumar, aka Pappu Jaintipuria, was a close confidant of senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia. His son Amandeep Kumar and his family was away to Batala when the incident took place around 7.50 pm. The incident was captured in the CCTV camera and was also shared by Majithia on X.

SSP Charanjit Singh Sohal said, “The forensic examination would reveal the nature of explosive. It was a low-intensity blast, which only damaged plants and pots in the lawn.” He added that the family had been receiving threats from gangsters and security was provided to it.

This is the sixth such incident in Amritsar district in the past over a month,
