The High Court here on Thursday issued a notice to the state on a petition filed by Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who has challenged the withdrawal of his Z security.

In his petition, Majithia sought the quashing of the order and restoration of the high-level security detail.

Majithia also urged the court to call for the latest threat perception report from the state and to direct that the order be kept in abeyance until the case was decided. Majithia submitted that he remains under threat, owing largely to his consistent stand against militancy, gangster-related activities and communal disruptions.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
