The case came up for hearing in the court of NIA Special Judge Karunesh Kumar. British national Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi Johal and Dharminder Singh alias Gugni had filed separate applications for their discharge from the case, which would come up for hearing on January 6.

NIA senior public prosecutor Surinder Singh said the Union Home Ministry had approved the transfer of the NIA probe to a special court in Delhi. All accused have been lodged in the jail and had appeared before the court through video conferencing.

Defence lawyers Ranjodh Singh Sarai and Jaspal Singh said they had also filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court, demanding that they should also be heard at the time of the hearing on NIA’s application.
