Chandigarh, September 13

The Punjab Government, under its ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar & Karobar’ Mission, is organising the 6th state-level Mega Rozgar Mela from September 24 to September 30. More than 55,000 applications have already been received from jobseekers on the official web portal www.pgrkam.com, but the heavy load has led to some technical snag and the portal is working slow for the past two days.

Employment Generation Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said the issue would be resolved soon. For the time being, the interested job seekers, who have not applied online, were requested to contact their District Bureau of Employment and Enterprise (DBEE) office to participate in the employment fair.

He also clarified that the candidates who had registered on the portal but had not specifically applied for vacancies may communicate their choice to the DBEE office. The district bureau offices can easily be reached through the helpline numbers. More than 1,100 employers were offering about 90,000 positions at the mela, Channi added.

Rahul Tewari, Secretary, Employment Generation, said various district administrations were also trying to reach out to the unemployed youth to make them aware of how to participate in the Rozgar Mela. All guidelines and safety measures regarding Covid -19 would be followed during the event, he added.
