SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal today urged the Centre and state governments “to fully acknowledge and honour the contribution of each and every player in addition to the medal winners at the Tokyo Olympics”.

He said the governments must not make the mistake of playing to the gallery by focusing on medallists alone. “We must not overlook the contribution of players who fought bravely,” the SAD president said. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind.
