Amid the bird flu scare, around 700 dead chickens were on Tuesday reportedly found dumped in a field near Rakhra village of the district which caused panic in the area.

The Department of Animal Husbandry collected the samples of dead birds and sent to Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, Jalandhar, to ascertain the cause of death.

Dr Jiwan Gupta, veterinary doctor, said, “As soon as we got the information, we reached the spot and collected the samples thereof. We also took samples from nearby poultry farms.”
