Bathinda, July 4
A former employee of the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bathinda, has been booked for allegedly siphoning off Rs 9.78 lakh.
After conducting a probe, the police registered a case against Rahul Garg, a resident of Nai Basti in Bathinda, who worked as an assistant accountant at the IHM from 2016 to 2018.
The matter came to light when an audit of 2017-18 was conducted. It was revealed that Garg allegedly took fees from 43 students but handed them fake receipts.
Principal Rajnit Kohli had filed a complaint on January 15, 2019, in which she had stated that an assistant accountant working in the institute had siphoned off money. Investigation officer Chiman Lal said raids were being conducted to arrest the accused.
