Dallewal was first taken by the police to Commando Training Centre in Patiala from where he was brought to the Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) around 1.30 am. However, he refused to get admitted to the facility, where a panel of five senior doctors had been formed to attend to him.

After he refused to get treatment at the facility, his ambulance kept stationed outside it for hours.

The ambulance was heavily guarded and remained there till 8.15 am, after which he was shifted to the PWD rest house. He has been allotted Room No. 2. A team of doctors from the Civil Hospital examined him.

As soon as the report of his shifting to the rest house spread, a group of farmers gathered outside the facility and started a protest.

The police installed barricades and let people pass through the area only after verification.

Farmers made several attempts to cross over the barricades and reach out to Dallewal but they were stopped by the police.

Later in the day, farm leaders claimed that Dallewal has refused to drink water.

The claim was made in a Facebook post by the BKU (Ekta-Sidhupur).

However, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal did not confirm the development.

“The farmer leader is under round-the-clock medical supervision. If any such matter is reported, medical specialists would take a call,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Aggarwal, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur and SSP (Jalandhar Rural) Gurmeet Singh had met Dallewal at the PWD rest house.

Dallewal’s two aides are with him in his room.

Union leader Kulwinder Singh Machhiana was detained from outside the rest house after he tried to enter the facility.
