In Parliament: Satnam Singh Sandhu demands military academy
New Delhi, July 31
Rajya Sabha member Satnam Singh Sandhu on Wednesday raised the long-pending issue of speedy completion of the Military Academy at Shri Anandpur Sahib in Punjab.
Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had announced the construction of a military academy at Shri Anandpur Sahib during celebrations of the 300th foundation day of the Khalsa Panth in Anandpur Sahib itself.
Speaking during Zero Hour, Sandhu said, “Sri Anandpur Sahib holds historical significance for the city’s Punjabi community and the Sikh community. This holy city is one of the five most important religious places for the Sikhs. It was here that Guru Gobind Singh established the Khalsa Panth on the day of Baisakhi in 1699,” Sandhu said. — TNS
